  • Bienvenidos! Welcome Nado Lovers!!

Are you ready to explore like Francisco de Coronado did? Coronado Springs was named after Francisco Vázquez de Coronado, the Spanish explorer who traveled western Mexico and the American Southwest in the 16th century. Inspired by the explorer who searched for the fabled Seven Cities of Gold, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort celebrates the character and traditions of the American Southwest and northern Mexico. Before I go any further, there are a couple of things that I would like to share with you. 1) CSR is a convention resort, Disney's first attempt at a moderate convention resort. So you will see guests walking around in business suits and ties, but most of the time they have on polo shirts with their company logos and/or name tags. 2) CSR is a large resort, but that is part of what makes CSR beautiful. So if walking is not for you, then CSR may not be a good resort choice. 3) CSR has a distinctive Mexican-Spanish architecture that some guests may not care for, especially if you live in an area that features this type of architecture.

My hope is that some or all of this info helps you in your decision/preparation in visiting CSR. Feel free to browse through all the different pages of the site or if you have any questions drop me an email.

The first building you will visit as part of your Nado experience will be El Centro. As you drive up to the main entrance, you arrive under a Spanish-themed porte cochere (translation: a carport) where you are greeted by bellmen, dressed in Mexican attire. They can assist to your every need. From there you enter El Centro, the main building. One of the first things you'll see is La Fuente de Las Palomas (translation: Fountain of the Doves).

This spring-fed fountain is located in the center as you enter the front doors. Fountain water emanates from a Spanish-style urn surrounded by colorful tiles. The domed ceiling is filled with hand painted images of white clouds and birds flying through a blue sky. The painting in the dome was painted on canvases off-site and applied in pieces. The doves were then added on site. This beautiful mural makes this the jewel of the entrance way.

El Centro is where you will find many of the spots you may need to use or visit throughout your stay. On one side is Panchito's Gift Shop. One of Walt Disney World's largest gift shops. On the right is guest services and the concierge desk, a one stop location that will give you access to the rest of Walt Disney World, from advanced dining reservation to park tickets and anything else you may need. There are 23 stations to check you in quickly. Cafe Rix, the Pepper Market, Rix Lounge and the Maya Grill are also located here. Bus stop #1 is just out front and to the left of the main entrance.

Amenities found in thge lobby area include the following:

    • Lobby Concierge providing personal assistance with tickets, reservations, transportation and more
    • Wi-Fi Internet access in lobby and convention center common areas
    • Same-day laundry and dry cleaning service
    • Business Center offering copying, faxing, packaging, shipping and more
    • ATM, FedEx, UPS, Western Union, Mail, Safe Deposit Box
    • Multiple merchandise locations offering groceries, souvenirs, collectibles, art, books, apparel and accessories
    • Public telephones
    • Restrooms
    • Stamps (sold at Panchito's)
    • An ATM and a pressed penny machine

The Front Desk staff is happy to print out boarding passes if needed, or you can use the business center (services provided by Ikon) to access the internet for travel related (4 minutes free) to print out boarding passes. The business center charges for ALL services. So always check with the front desk first. Any front desk CM can print out boarding passes, just go to the CM that has the shortest wait. For Southwest Airlines, bring your confirmation code (six letter/number combination) any time within 24 hours of your departure. They will enter info at 24 hours and one second and then keep refreshing if needed to get our guest into the “A” seating group. One guest from the reservation list must be present in order for a CM to print out any boarding passes; no need to bring the whole family. If you will be at the parks during that 24 hour window, most park guest service desks or any other resort Concierge will be more than happy to help. You do not need to be a guest at a resort, the front desk staff will be happy to aid any Walt Disney World guest. Just remember that confirmation number…they can’t do anything without it.

There are times when you do not actually want the front desk to print boarding passes. That would be when a Disney Magical Express guest will have checked luggage on one of our partner airlines. In that case, stop by the concierge or bell captain window and they can make the procedures very simple (including how to prepay for those airlines that have fees).

As you walk out the rear entrance of El Centro, you are greeted by tons of breathe-taking scenery. A new lounge has been built in this area called the Laguna Bar. Many new booths and tables have been added in this area as well so you can take your Pepper Market meal "to go" and eat outside or just enjoy a drink from the Laguna Bar while you take in the beauty.

CSR is situated on 125-acres and has 1,917 non-smoking rooms and suites. There is no smoking inside of any WDW buildings except for a couple of special lounges separate from any other facility. The rooms are split into three distinct villages that set the stage for the rest of the resort. City-like dwellings or casitas, rustic ranchos, and beach-side cabanas are located around the beautiful 15-acre (25' deep) lake called Lago Dorado (translation: Lake of Gold).
